TWP Member Communications

The TWP suggests that you download and install PhoneGaim voice-over-Internet software.  TWP members will receive further instructions for participation in upcoming audio conference sessions.

PhoneGaim Download 

PhoneGaim combines the power of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) technology, used for establishing simple two-way telephone calls over the Internet, with GAIM, an instant messaging client that bridges many different IM services such as AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ and more.

This Instant Messenger software allows the user to make free phone calls to other computers running the same software.  In addition to text and audio computer connections, PhoneGaim also supports worldwide telephone system calls.  You also get voicemail delivered to your e-mail inbox and free conference calling.  There are no setup fees and no monthly charges.

PhoneGaim is open source and covered under the Gnu General Public License (GPL). 
 

SIPphone Conferencing

SIPphone provides multi-party teleconference capability.

Follow these steps to initiate a teleconference:

• Run PhoneGaim and click on the "Call" button to make a phone call.
• Decide on the seven digit number that will be used as the conference room number, and communicate this number to the teleconference participants.
• Dial '1-222' followed by the seven digit conference room number.  [The SIPphone test number is 1-222-000-0000.  You should hear a repeating welcome message.]
• Instruct the teleconference participants to call the same number using PhoneGaim or a conventional telephone.

Follow these steps to to participate in a teleconference:

• Run PhoneGaim and click on the "Call" button to make a phone call.
• Dial '1-222' followed by the seven digit conference room number.  Each person who calls that number will be automatically connected to the conference. 

• Alternatively, using a conventional telephone, dial a SIPphone access number from the following list:
